Strategic Estates manage the strategic direction of the Cardiff Council property estate. We are part of Economic Development and our role is to work closely with Council service areas to ensure the property estate provides the right facilities to support service delivery.
Cardiff Council has a substantial property and land portfolio, much of which is used to deliver or support key services and includes Schools, Offices, Depots and Parks. We also have an investment portfolio used for income generation including shops, light industry, ground rents and of course Cardiff Market. We also work closely with community groups on a variety of Community Asset Transfer opportunities.
The day to day business of Strategic Estates focuses on:
- Property Asset management
- Property acquisition
- Property disposal
- Development of the Investment Estate
- Cardiff Market
- Property data and GIS management
- Property enquiries
Our work does not include the Council’s housing stock, which is managed by our colleagues in the Communities Service Area.
Strategic Estates recognise that property is a valuable resource and the way we use and manage our assets is central to the Council’s ability to provide services effectively.
